Boka Buka Restaurant

Hi guys! This time I will review a cozy and homey French Restaurant, located at PIM Street Gallery. It's called BOKA BUKA Restaurant. That was my first time visiting PIM Street Gallery and there's lot of nice restaurant, included BOKA BUKA. Here are the photos of the restaurant ;)

Chic and simple
Love the window mirror!
It's a nice motorcycle, isn't it?
So cozy and homey
One of my favorite spot here
Nice interior reflects good atmosphere
Huge light-bulb! So unique

Here are the mouth-watering dishes from BOKA BUKA :

Home-made Fresh Ginger Juice. Welcome drink from BOKA BUKA. It's their signature drink. It was very strong and I couldn't drink it all. But believe me, it's good for you who like a fresh ginger juice with strong taste and maybe if you have a sore throat or cough, it will be nice.

Escargots de Bourgogne. The famous twelve baked ESCARGOTS with melted butter and parsley, served with breads and garlic butter. Best ESCARGOTS in town! It tastes so so good! I really need a new vocabulary to describe it, coz it's more than 'delicious'. I'm definitely sure that the rumors are true. I can tell you by showing this photo. You gotta prove them by yourself! FYI, BOKA BUKA is well-known for their superb-delish ESCARGOTS, they use only high quality imported ESCARGOTS so don't hesitate to try.

JiF even slept under the plate because he was so drooling by seeing and smelling these super duper delicious and yummy ESCARGOTS. He said awww I really want to eat all of these by myself! :9

Creamy Chicken Mushroom in Crepes. The first main course I tried. Crepes, filled with creamy and cooked-well chicken fillet and mushroom. It was creamy, but it didn't make me nauseated at all. This good point make this dish perfect. I like this so much!

Filet de Beouf. Tenderloin beef fillet with mushroom sauce, served with sauteed vegetables and potato gratin. The tenderloin was tender and juicy, cooked perfectly, combined with delicious mushroom sauce. I love it so damn much!!! One of the best steak I ever had in Jakarta.

Apple Crumble. This yummy apple crumble served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate wafer stick. The apple was fresh and not too sour for me. It's perfect to end your lunch or dinner with this dessert.

Iced Ginger Juice and Iced Lemon Grass. This ginger juice is the same with the welcome drink, but with bigger glass. The lemon grass is so refreshing! In my opinion, I prefer the lemon grass than the ginger juice, coz the flavor isn't too strong.

Here are the smoking areas with awesome view!

So comfortable
Nice wall decoration
The great panorama view
The huge swimming pool view
It's nice to sit here around 5pm!
My favorite spot here! Nice corner with super vintage big clock
Special thanks to BOKA BUKA - Budiendra Sisters for inviting JiF :)

I was glad to meet up with the owners of BOKA BUKA Restaurant, the Budiendra Sisters. They are very nice and friendly! BOKA BUKA is a family business restaurant since 1999, and has two branches. The first branch is located at Cipete Raya (managed by their parents) and the second branch; PIM Street Gallery- managed by the Budiendra Sisters. BOKA is from Latin Language which means "mouth" and BUKA is from Indonesian which means "open". So if you go to BOKA BUKA you have to prepare an "Opened Mouth". Their motto is "Eat Well, Laugh Often, Love Abundantly". Simply means that if you eat good food, you will laugh often and also love abundantly.

Overall I really love this restaurant interior, everything is super vintage! Nice interior reflects good atmosphere and ambiance, doesn't it? The food are very nice, and worth to try. The service was also fast and good. I highly recommend this cozy and homey French restaurant to everyone who craves for French food with homey ambiance. I will come back for sure :9

Otterhound

Hello! This is JiF's first food journey. For you who haven't known about JiF, kindly check Jakarta in Food's instagram @jakartainfood :) Let's check this restaurant!

Hi all! JiF is here :D

Otterhound Chicken Wings (40k). This appetizer come first to my table. First look I think it's just an usual chicken wings dish. But I was wrong, these chicken wings were so good. They marinated the chicken so the taste was good, and not too salty. The smell was also good too, because they use fish sauce.

Miss Saigon (55k). This is one of Thailand's special dish. Actually I wasn't really excited because it was "dry". But when I asked the waitress, they said yeah that's miss saigon, that's it. Miss saigon is rice vermicelli with grilled chicken, boiled shrimps, fish balls, shrimp balls, sprinkled with crushed peanut. *Note: the clear soup on the photo was the Minced beef with sweet basil and hot chilies soup. I used it for my miss saigon because I felt weird to eat rice vermicelli dry. Actually, I like the fish and shrimp balls, they were fresh and tasty. Maybe this is good for people who like Thailand's signature cuisine. In Otterhound, this dish is their signature dish.

Minced Beef with Sweet Basil and Hot Chilies (65k). This is the most popular street style dish. Served with fried egg, rice, and clear soup. This dish is very simple, but tasty. The minced beef was cooked well.

Spicy Spaghetti Thai Style (60k). Stir-fried spaghetti with beef, chilies, fresh peppercorns, and basil leaves. Actually you can choose between beef, chicken, and seafood. I like this spaghetti, it really showed me about the thailand's cuisine with italian fusion, although it was a little bit spicy for me.

I like their wall decoration and also their nice sofa and chairs. Simple but so attractive.

Overall, I like this simple restaurant with good food and nice interior. The atmosphere was actually good, if they can seperate the non-smoking and smoking area. When I came here, it was around 2pm and still crowded, so I had to sit at the sofa (smoking area). I didn't feel comfort, but after my dishes come to my table, thank God many people finished and go. So I wasn't too annoyed with smoking area. I hope Otterhound could find out the solution for this. Anyway, they provide good service and I recommend this restaurant for you to have lunch/ dinner destination. Thai and Italian collaboration ;)

Laughing Stock Grill

Hello everyone! Long time no post. Sorry I've been busy. This is my first review in 2014. New year, new restaurant. Let me start a review with this new restaurant in Jakarta, South Jakarta.

Pan Fried Salmon (120k). Pan fried norwegian trout with baby tomato, spinach, enoki, ginger flakes, and miso broth. I love salmon so much, especially the pan fried one. This ONE is ONE of the BEST SALMON I ever tried in Jakarta. Believe me, the salmon was cooked well and the skin was crunchy. I was hesitate when the dish arrived at my table, because of the miso broth. But after tried it, I was just like oh this one is so so good. Definitely will drool about this :9

US  Hanger Steak (110k). Seared 200gr US hanger steak with caramelized onion, mashed potato, and sauteed vegetables. Well the beef cuts was pretty. I like the presentation very well, because I'm a type of a lazy person to cut a steak. You know what I mean. Haha. Back to the point, I really like the beef, the beef was very tender and juicy. But I don't know why my tounge didn't like the sauce, I felt that it didn't match for the tender and juicy beef. "Sayang sekali" if the sauce is great, it will be a very great dish.

Uncle Romy's Hot Plate Brownies (55k). I need a new vocabulary to describe how extremely delicious is this. This is ONE of the BEST dessert I ever tried, I don't lie to you. I think there's no restaurant which serve dessert like this. It was very unique, as we know it's a brownies topped with ice cream (cold yeah) served on a (hot) plate. It was GREAT.SERIOUSLY.

Well, I was very happy and satisfied visiting this new restaurant. Even this restaurant is quite far from my house, but it all was paid with their food. The atmosphere was great, classic but comfortable. The service was also great, they were kind and friendly with customers. I'm waiting for their new branch in other area :)
